Mardi Gras does not enter quietly. She arrives like the garden found a costume box and made excellent choices.

Steve's Facebook archive describes perfectly rounded petals opening like satin balloons, carrying a pastel carnival of butter-gold, blush apricot and soft pink haze.

There is polish in the bloom, but also a wink: airbrushed sunset colour, peachy curves and just enough mischief to make the whole plant feel like a private parade.

The January and February 2026 archive records both show the same personality: joyful, rounded, sweetly excessive and very aware that collectors run out of space for exactly this sort of reason.

Mardi Gras is celebration in flower form, the one that makes restraint look underdressed.

She deserves better than a fading marker.

I label every plant in my collection with tags made by my son Brock at BrockMark. He permanently laser-engraves them into weatherproof anodised aluminium, finishes each one with a stainless-steel wire loop and checks the spelling before the plants are left to defend their own identities.
